Why do we need God?
We need God for the same reason that a child needs a parent. A child needs a parent to protect them, teach them, nourish them and guide them into maturity, into respected and respectful adults. God does all that, He is our ultimate Father. He created all things.
They say that if we don't learn from our past then we are doomed to repeat it. Well, God's creations have been repeating the past since the fall of man. (Adam & Eve's disobedience in regard to the tree of knowledge or good & evil) We continue to do things that hurt God and make Him displeased with us. There would be a time that the people of God would return to Him and do as God said, but that wouldn't last long, they would once again begin to find other gods to worship(a god is anything that is placed before God, or desired more than God). God loves us so much the He had to do something before He could no longer stand His people's disobedience and wipe them from the face of the Earth. So, He sent Jesus, born to a virgin, conceived by the Holy Spirit. Jesus took our penalty for all the things that we have done or ever will do against God on Himself and allowed Himself to be crucified on a cross and to shed His blood for us, to be the final payment for sin. Then, He took the keys to Hell & the grave, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father in Heaven.
Now, all that is left to do is for people to accept Jesus as their savior, repent of their sin (confess and turn from it) change the way they are living their life and go out and tell others.
How do I do that you might say? Well, here's where to begin:
1) Admit you are a sinner
2) Be willing to turn from your sins (repent)
3) Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the Cross and then rose from the grave.
4) Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come into your life, and to be Lord of your life.
WHAT TO PRAY:
Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner and in desperate need of your forgiveness. I believe that you died for my sins. I am sorry for what I have done and ask for your help in turning from my wicked ways. I now invite you to come into my heart and life, make me born again with new life in you. I will follow you and trust you as my Lord and savior. Thank-you for paying the penalty for my sin. I accept your forgiveness and ask for your help in following in your ways. In Jesus' name.. Amen
Read what the bible has to say regarding what you've just read:
Romans 3:23 " For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Everyone is a sinner, there are no exceptions.
Romans 6:23"For the wages of sin is death: but the the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" Death means an eternal separation from God. Eternal life comes by trusting Jesus Christ and following His commandments.
Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." God loved us sinners so much that he gave His son to die for our sins.
Romans 10:9 "If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." To be born again, you must believe that Jesus died for your sins and declare that you accept Him as Savior.
Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." This is God's promise to you that if you accept Jesus, He will accept you.
John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved." God's love was so great that He gave His Son, Jesus to pay for our sins so that we might be saved.
Plain and simple - everyone needs God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
If you want to accept Jesus as your savior and you haven't already prayed the prayer above, scroll back and pray it now. Remember, this will do you no good unless you "mean business" with God.
If you have just prayed the prayer, Welcome into the family of God. Being a Christian is not just praying a little prayer, it's just a big first step. Being a Christian is a life changing experience and a life long process. We all make mistakes and need to continually repent for our 'slip-ups'. Tell somebody what you've done and invite them to accept Jesus as their Savior too! Find yourself a good church. Look for a church in 'revival' don't just walk into any church and stay there. Need a little help to get started? Go to Reaper Net and take a look at the revival map, maybe you can find a church near you that is in 'revival' right on their website. Check out churches ask God to lead you to a church where you can grow in your knowledge of Him. Assemblies of God churches are a good place to start. Don't just sit there and say, "I can pray & worship God right here in my home", you'd be doing yourself a dis-service. Hebrews 10:25 says, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much more, as you see the day approaching". Once you've found a church, ask the pastor about water baptism. You now need to be baptized in water. Mark 16:16, "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not is damned". Jesus commanded that those who believe must be baptized and if we are to follow Jesus we need to do as He says to do. Read your bible, if you do not have one, get one. Bibles are available at most large discount retail stores in their books section or go to a Christian bookstore. E-mail us, if you have any questions and/or let us know that you've accepted Jesus, we would be more than happy to pray for you.
God Bless You!
